The 2022 State Demography Summit was held virtually on Friday, November 4, 2022

This one-day conference offered attendees the opportunity to learn about the most current population and economic estimates and forecasts for the state and its regions. The morning sessions covered the economic and population conditions and outlook for the state and their implications. The afternoon session explored data tools, data reliability, and data definitions.

  • Plenary sessions covered the most current population estimates and forecasts, migration trends, and discuss implications for housing, planning, policy, business, and public services.
  • Expert economists from across the state discussed the near-term outlook for Colorado’s economy and thoughts about the state’s long run competitiveness.
  • State Demography Office staff presented tools for visualizing population change and will introduce its redesigned website.
  • An expert from the U.S. Census Bureau discussed new Census data products including their data equity tools.
  • Additional sessions discussed data reliability issues with Census products and discussed the concept of “Disadvantaged Communities” a historically common reference now in the limelight due to COVID relief dollars.
